The Kentucky Municipal Energy Agency (KYMEA) is pleased to announce the launch of a new logo and tagline as part of the Agency’s ongoing effort to establish its brand, which began in 2015 with the formation of a joint public agency.

During its April 2018 meeting, the Board of Directors approved a new logo and tagline that represents KYMEA’s goal of better serving its customers with cost-effective and reliable sources of electricity.

“Now is the perfect time to establish our Agency’s brand and logo to ensure it is in sync with who we are and where we are going,” said KYMEA President & CEO Doug Buresh. “KYMEA’s 11 members have built a strong organization. It is with them in mind that we are excited to unveil our new visual identity to establish our position as a knowledgeable industry leader and carry us into the future.”

The primary feature of the KYMEA brand is the energy source at the heart of the logo. The “M” represents “Municipalities” in the KYMEA acronym. For members of the Agency, 11 municipalities from across Kentucky, this glowing center represents the power that energizes their communities – and the power to determine their own energy direction.

The new tagline, “Public Power for Kentucky” emphasizes the point that this is a power agency for Kentucky, a not-for-profit directed by its members.

Ron Herd, General Manager of the Corbin City Utilities Commission and Chairman of the KYMEA Board said: “The logo and tagline perfectly reinforces our direction – municipalities working together for the mutual benefit of our customers.”

KYMEA partnered with Kinetic Strategic Design (KSD) of Somerset, KY on this branding process. Over the next few months, KSD will be developing KYMEA’s collateral, stationery, and website with the new branding. The official website is scheduled to launch in September.
