Rob Leesman

Rob Leesman joined KYMEA in June 2018 and serves as Vice President of Market Analytics/COO. In this role, he leads the Agency’s power supply planning, market operations, portfolio optimization, risk management, budgeting, and rate-related activities. He is responsible for the development, negotiation, and administration of wholesale power supply arrangements and oversees KYMEA’s long-term, short-term, and day-ahead market activities.

Mr. Leesman manages energy counterparties and contractual relationships, evaluates future supply and demand needs, and supports resource planning decisions designed to protect members from market volatility. His work includes wholesale position management, market forecasting, hedging strategies, and adherence to the risk management policies established by KYMEA’s Board of Directors.

Before joining KYMEA, Mr. Leesman served as Director of Power Marketing for Owensboro Municipal Utilities, where he managed the sale and risk mitigation of surplus generation from the Elmer Smith Generating Station. Earlier in his career, he held trading, transmission, scheduling, analytical, and control-area operations roles with BNP Paribas, Fortis Bank, Duke Energy, and Cinergy.

Mr. Leesman graduated magna cum laude from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology.
